Guest lecture TUE trainees EngD programme by Jacqueline Vaessen

Friday 25 November I was invited to give a guest lecture in Eindhoven to trainees from the EngD programme Process and Product Design. For me personally a trip down memory lane, because Eindhoven is my alma mater. I even ran into one of my teachers!

An EngD course (f.k.a. PDEng) is a 2-year post-master’s programme to become a technological designer. It consists of one year of theory and a technology design project (10 to 12 months) for a leading high-tech company.

I gave the trainees a glimpse into the Top Sector and TKI Chemie and then I entered into a discussion with them about the topics they brought up, such as the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, the possibilities of PLA as a packaging material and the chemical recycling of plastics. It was an enthusiastic group with lots of questions and lively discussions.

I was also allowed to attend the trainees’ midterm presentations on the validation of a model for e-cracking, the use of heat pumps in the dairy industry and saving water in the dairy industry. Enthusiastic stories from passionate young people who want to contribute to making the industry more sustainable.

If you have a nice assignment for a trainee within your company (they have graduated as a chemical technologists) or if you would like more information first, please contact Jeanine Stassen of TUE. She is happy to answer all your questions.
