NWO invites the submission of initiatives for strategic Long-Term Programmes (LTPs). A Long-Term Programme gives a powerful boost to the development of a scientific field, which focuses on a societal theme or key enabling technology. With this call, NWO offers a sustainable funding possibility for structural collaboration between public and private parties and knowledge institutions. The strategic initiatives have a duration of ten years. NWO is making 40 million euros available for this call. The deadline for submitting initiatives is 26 January 2021.
Call for proposals
In this call for proposals, which is part of the knowledge and innovation convenant (KIC), strong public-private consortia can apply for funding for Long-Term Programmes (LTPs) with a total budget of at least 30 million euros over the ten years of the duration of the programme. NWO will fund between 9 million and, at most, 25 million euros. This NWO grant forms 30% of the total LTP budget and is equal to the private cash contribution to an LTP. Participating knowledge institutions will jointly contribute 10% in cash or in kind to the budget. The remaining 30% of the budget can be provided according to the needs and character of the LTP. This can be in the form of private funding, but also additional public funding through, for example, a regional party.
An LTP focuses on the strategic subject that contributes to the Mission-Driven Top Sectors and Innovation Policy. The initiatives to be submitted fit within one of the Knowledge and Innovation Agendas of this policy. NWO is making 40 million euros available for this call for proposals. The deadline for registering initiatives is 26 January 2021. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 22 April 2021. This call falls under the main line Strategy of the KIC.
