Jacqueline Vaessen, Chair of ChemistryNL, gave a guest lecture on 12 September as part of VNCI ‘We are chemie’ at 3vwo/havo of the Infinity College in Utrecht. Jacqueline has chosen plastic recycling as the theme for the guest lecture. If plastic is collected together with all waste, it is contaminated with, for example, food leftovers. In addition, the plastic is also ‘contaminated’ with labels and glue. In addition, there are many types of plastic. Everything has to be washed, sorted and separated.
