How are we going to get more young girls enthusiastic about chemistry? That was the central question during the second edition of the Global Women’s Breakfast on 12 February. An international event that is organized in more than 40 countries with the goal: Empowering Women in Chemistry.
Marjan van Loon, CEO of Shell Netherlands and speaker during this breakfast, emphasized that more chemistry girls are really needed for the future. She encouraged women to stay close to themselves. Faiza Oulahsen, head of Energy and Climate at Greenpeace Netherlands was also a speaker and talked about female leadership. She gave some personal examples and told about her source of inspiration Jacinta Arden, Prime Minister of New Zealand. During the brainstorming, concrete ideas were retrieved with which the sector gets to work. Think of open days where parents invite their daughters and the use of ambassadors on social media.
