Dutch start-up TUSTI has come up with a way to remove grease from plastic packaging materials such as empty margarine tubs, cheese packaging and cartons of used cooking oil so they can be shredded and recycled. Until now, this sizeable waste stream could only be processed with chemicals and steam. TUSTI cleanses this type of plastic packaging in a natural and affordable way using a plant-based detergent in a sort of washing machine drum.
