Are you working on innovative ways to produce building blocks for the chemical industry from biomass? Would you like to find out what is going on in this area in Brazil and build or strengthen contacts with Brazilian knowledge parties, companies and governments? Then the ‘Circular bioeconomy’ innovation mission to Brazil is something for you.
The Netherlands and Brazil have a long-standing collaboration in the field of innovations for the use of biomass as a raw material for industry. The recent visit of Prime Minister Mark Rutte to Brazil has put bio raw materials at the top of the bilateral agenda, and the Top Sector Chemistry has also designated Brazil as a priority country for cooperation in the field of innovation for the use of biofuels for chemical products with maximum added value. Chair of the Top Sector ChemistryNL Jacqueline Vaessen and the ChemistryNL Top Team are participating in the mission.
Objectives of the mission
This innovation mission brings together Brazilian and Dutch parties (companies, knowledge institutions and governments) in the areas of:
- Circular and sustainable biofuels, also through recycling of bio-based materials
- Integrated biorefineries
- Innovations for bio-based chemical building blocks, biopolymers and biofuels
- Policy to stimulate the bioeconomy including financing of projects
Concept programme
The mission begins and has its focus in the state of São Paolo, Brazil’s center of research and innovation. We plan visits to the Universities of São Paulo and Campinas, the federal research facility for biorenewables CNPEM, research funder FAPESP and various companies such as Braskem and Raízen. There may also be a visit to another state.
Who can participate?
The mission is aimed at R&D managers, business development managers, CTOs and CEOs of companies and knowledge institutions that are looking for new partnerships and that are involved in producing materials and energy carriers from biomass in an efficient and sustainable manner.
More information about this innovation mission can be found on the RVO website (in Dutch).
