KIA CE-project Wood Loop wins Circular Chain Award

On March 14, Wood Loop, which was partly developed in a KIA CE project, won the Circular Chain Award 2024 during the National Circular Economy Conference. State Secretary Vivianne Heijnen presented the Award to Dirk van Deursen, who played a major role in the realization of Wood Loop on behalf of Royal CBM. Queen Maxima also came to congratulate the winners.

The Circular Awards are awarded to innovative and circular projects, products and services from companies and governments that make an extraordinary contribution to the promotion of the circular economy. In the Circular Chain Award category, the focus is on successful circular chain collaborations.

Wood Loop is a biobased circular chain for sheet material in the furniture industry and the events industry. A new sheet material is developed from a renewable binding agent and ideally based on residual fibers. A logistics chain has been developed that ensures that the renewable sheet material does not become contaminated with fossil raw materials. In this way, the use of primary and fossil raw materials can be phased out.

The implementation of the Circular Economy Knowledge and Innovation Agenda (KIA CE) falls under the direction of ChemistryNL.
