Regieorgaan SIA and ChemistryNL are stimulating short-term applied research into innovations in sustainable chemistry through the KIEM GoChem programme. In the latest funding round, 15 research projects have been awarded funding.
For the first time, the programme was fully aligned with the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda (KIA) Circular Chemistry and Materials. The selected proposals closely matched the three focus areas:
- Chemistry for the circular economy
- Circular chemistry for the energy transition
- Circular chemistry for strategic autonomy and resilience
The assessment committee was generally very positive about the quality of the proposals submitted by universities of applied sciences. It also noted the growing interest in KIEM GoChem among research universities and NWO institutes, as well as the increasing number of industry partners and their strong involvement in the projects.
These projects were selected during the first KIEM GoChem 2026 application round. Funding remains available for approximately 16 additional projects in the second and final application round, which closes on 15 September 2026.
Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis until the available budget has been fully allocated.
