7 million euro for NWO-projects reduced dependence critical materials

The upcoming energy transition requires reliable, scalable, and sustainable technologies. However, many of these technologies still depend heavily on scarce, geopolitically sensitive critical raw materials. The NWO is making €7 million available for public-private partnerships to fund innovative research projects that will reduce or replace the use of these materials throughout the value chain.

We invite researchers and potential partners to develop design strategies that will reduce the use of critical raw materials in a variety of applications related to the energy transition:

  1. Electrolysers and electrolyser plants
  2. Wind-turbines
  3. Photovoltaics
  4. Battery systems
  5. Other relevant area’s for the energy transition, for example grid infrastructure like cables and transformers, power electronics or for example production of alternative fuels, etc.

A project can receive a maximum of 1.3 million euros.
