KIEM GoChem program open for applications for green chemistry innovation projects

The KIEM GoChem program will also in 2024 provide financial support to innovation projects in the field of green chemistry that have a positive effect on both the environment and the economy. Next year the subsidy budget will be almost 1.3 million euros. It is expected that this will allow approximately 30 project applications to be awarded. Projects can be submitted from December 12, 2023. The first closing date is January 16.

The KIEM GoChem program is intended for innovation projects by SMEs together with universities of applied sciences and/or universities to develop new solutions in the field of green chemistry and related fields. Projects must contribute to, for example, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, reduced raw material use or environmentally friendly alternatives to existing chemical compounds and circularity.

In recent years, the programme has already provided support to dozens of projects. You can find short descriptions of the projects here.

A maximum of 40,000 euros in subsidy can be applied for per project, which will be awarded to the university of applied sciences or university. The participating SME company is expected to make a contribution in kind of 10% of the project costs. The maximum duration of a project is one year. You can submit via ISAAC, the NWO application system. There will be three moments in 2024 when all projects received so far will be assessed. These are January 16, May 21 and October 8.
