PPP Surcharge
Type of scheme: subsidy
The PPP Surcharge (“PPS toeslag”) is a subsidy that is used to start new projects that contribute to one or more roadmaps of the Topsector Chemistry/ChemistryNL. These Chemistry Roadmaps are enabelers for taking on the grand challenges that lie ahead of us with respect to climate, circularity and health. The subsidy can be acquired in two forms –Programme subsidy or Project Subsidy. TKI Chemistry will apply for these subsidies on your behalf.

NWO KIC call Mission-driven innovation systems in a regional context: a knowledge base for social earning capacity

Within the KIC 2020-2023, budget is made available for research into mission-driven innovation systems, in the context of the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Social Earning Capacity. Interdisciplinary consortia including research institutes and public and private organisations can submit proposals with a total budget of at least € 750,000 and at most € 4,000,000.

NWO KIC call Human Capital: Learning communities as innovation accelerator

Strong human capital in the Netherlands is needed to find answers to current and future societal problems, to tackle challenges and to continue stimulating economic growth. Research in this call focusses on existing, starting or developing learning communities. The learning communities to be investigated should be active in at least one of the three following contexts: Energy Transition & Sustainability, Health & Care or ICT.

The NWO instruments for the Knowledge and Innovation Covenant (KIC) 2020-2023 provide funding for fundamental and practical research in a public-private partnership (PPP). The set of instruments consists of four main lines, for which 118 million euros has been reserved annually.

NWO funding instrument KIC: Demand-driven Partnerships for Consortia

Demand-driven Partnerships for Consortia ‘is a new instrument within the second main line of the Knowledge and Innovation Covenant (KIC) 2020-2023. For this call, NWO is looking for knowledge institutions that want to further investigate a knowledge and / or development question in collaboration with public and private co-funders. The consortia to be formed can submit a research proposal for financing a large-scale project of 3 to 10 million euros.

NWO funding instrument KIC: Long-Term Programmes – strategy-driven consortia with impact

In this call for proposals, which is part of the knowledge and innovation convenant (KIC), strong public-private consortia can apply for funding for Long-Term Programmes (LTPs) with a total budget of at least 30 million euros over the ten years of the duration of the programme. An LTP focuses on the strategic subject that contributes to the Mission-Driven Top Sectors and Innovation Policy. The initiatives to be submitted fit within one of the Knowledge and Innovation Agendas of this policy. NWO is making 40 million euros available for this call for proposals. The deadline for registering initiatives is 26 January 2021. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 22 April 2021. This call falls under the main line Strategy of the KIC.

Nationaal Groeifonds
20 billion euros for the coming 5 years for knowledge development, infrastructure and research, development & innovation. Entrepreneurs, (SME) companies, knowledge institutions and other parties are given an important role in submitting investment proposals. The ministry dealing with a specific topic then formally submits a proposal. An investment proposal has a minimum size of 30 million euros, there is no maximum size per project.

One Single Hub: strengthening the ecosystem around start-ups and scale-ups
Do you have or are you aware of a successful regional programme that supports start-ups or scale-ups? The One Single Hub scheme aims to expand proven results. In this way, the regional programmes have a national effect and we strengthen the competitive and innovation position of start-ups and scale-ups and of the Netherlands.

NWO KIEM 2020

KIEM 2020 offers the opportunity with (new) partners to carry out exploratory research such as feasibility studies. Possible outcomes of projects are new research requests, network activities, prototypes, tests, (business) models, methods, methods, demonstrators, processes, product concepts and service concepts. Colleges and university researchers can apply for funding for exploratory research with practical partners (two, of which at least one is an SME party) within the thematic frameworks of the KIAs.

Energie-investeringsaftrek (EIA)

Does your company invest in energy-efficient techniques and sustainable energy? And do you want to achieve a tax benefit? In that case, make use of the Energy Investment Allowance (EIA). This arrangement gives you an average 11% advantage. In addition, energy-efficient investments ensure a lower energy bill. There is a budget of € 147 million for 2020.

Enterprise Europe Network (EEN)

If you are going to do business in Europe, there is a network that you cannot ignore: the Enterprise Europe Network (ONE). This network has been set up by the European Commission, especially to support SMEs in international trade and innovation.

Partners for International Business (PIB)
Type of scheme: government support
Partners for International Business (PIB) is a programme with which Dutch companies can realize their international ambitions in a public-private partnership. Doing business abroad is not always easy. You may face trade barriers, insufficient knowledge of local governments and companies, or adverse local laws. Working together with other companies in the sector and the Dutch government can make you stronger.

Innovatiekrediet (Toekomstfonds)

With the Seed Capital scheme, the government supports innovative companies in the technological and creative field in obtaining venture capital.
