\"\"Kjeld Zwitserloot (18, Gymnasium Beekvliet) has won the National Chemistry Olympiad (NSO) for the second time, a unique event in its history. The finals took place at Symeres in Nijmegen, where 20 talented students enjoyed an intensive week of practicals, theory lessons and relaxation. Dani\u00ebl Vleugel and Imre Bekkering (both Willem Lodewijk Gymnasium) finished second and third. The participants worked on a “Drug Discovery Challenge” with 3D simulations, among other things.<\/p>\n

The award ceremony was co-organised by ChemistryNL, which emphasised the importance of laboratory skills with the Top Sector Chemistry \u201cKanjerprijs\u201d and the \u201cPraktijkprijs\u201d. Onno de Vreede (ChemistryNL) emphasised the crucial importance of chemical talent for the business community. The NSO is supported by a broad network of educational and knowledge institutions and sponsored by, among others, ChemistryNL, which encourages young talent to choose a future in science and chemistry.<\/p>\n
