The 2025 national final of the Bio-based Student Innovation Challenge \u2013 Europe (BISC-E) took place during World Bio Markets in The Hague. This exciting competition showcased innovative student projects aimed at promoting a biobased economy.<\/p>\n

Six Dutch student teams competed for the title, with the winners receiving a prize of \u20ac1000 and representing the Netherlands in the upcoming European finals.\"\"<\/p>\n

The jury, consisting of experts from industry and academia \u2013 including Kirsten Steinbusch (BioBased Circulair), Maddalena Eloisa Logrieco (MNEXT), Harald Ruijssenaars (Corbion) and Li Shen (Utrecht University) \u2013 determined the following top three after assessing the feasibility of the concepts and pitches:<\/p>\n

Team UreMan from Wageningen University took third place with their idea to reduce nitrogen emissions in livestock farming. Second place went to Team BioCreate from Avans University of Applied Sciences, Leiden University and Wageningen University won the second prize with a biobased alternative to the use of polyacrylamide in hydroseeding. The first prize went to Team Sea to Skin from Wageningen University. The team developed an alternative UV protection in seaweed-based skin care products.<\/p>\n
