Researchers and companies can submit applications from February 17, 2026, to April 14, 2026, for innovation projects focused on four themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safe Alternatives for Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)<\/li>\n<li>AI Readiness for the Dutch Chemical Processing Industry<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Chemistry: Health, Food Security, and Packaging<\/li>\n<li>Transformation to sustainable production<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practical information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Available budget: \u20ac7,697,825 (approximately \u20ac1.9 million per theme)<\/li>\n<li>Maximum grant per project: \u20ac500,000, of which a maximum of \u20ac150,000 is for SMEs<\/li>\n<li>Submission period: February 17, 2026, 12:00 PM to April 14, 2026, 2:00 PM<\/li>\n<li>Project duration: until December 31, 2031<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conditions<\/strong><br \/>\nApplications must be submitted by public-private consortia. The main applicant must be a researcher employed at a Dutch knowledge institution for at least the duration of the project. Replacing these substances with safe alternatives is essential for sustainability and the green energy transition. Research proposals can focus on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replacing PFAS in polymer processing aids and flame retardants<\/li>\n<li>Safer additives for renewable polymers<\/li>\n<li>Alternatives to hazardous solvents in batteries<\/li>\n<li>Replacing chemical building blocks such as formaldehyde and bisphenol-A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>AI Readiness for the Dutch Chemical Processing Industry<br \/>\nAI has great potential as a disruptive technology for the chemical industry, but its implementation is lagging behind. Targeted R&amp;D projects can remove these barriers. Research proposals could focus on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chemical sensors suitable for AI applications<\/li>\n<li>AI training facilities and digital twins<\/li>\n<li>AI-supported process design and control<\/li>\n<li>Data infrastructure and AI model validation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Chemistry: Health, Food Security, and Packaging<br \/>\nSustainability is essential for the growing global population. This call focuses on three pillars, based on the \u201cSafe and Sustainable by Design\u201d principles. Research proposals can focus on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sustainable pharmaceuticals: enzyme-mediated synthesis, smart delivery systems, green solvents<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable food: high-quality fermentation processes, enzymatic extraction, plant-based proteins<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable packaging: improved barrier properties, design-for-recycling, bio-based materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Transformation to sustainable production<br \/>\nThe transformation of the chemical industry to sustainable and low-carbon feedstocks is essential. This call seeks groundbreaking ideas for process technology challenges.
